At Soccer Roots, it's more than just a game

Welcome to Soccer Roots, a locally-oriented soccer organization in Shelburne, Vermont, dedicated to using the beautiful game to elevate goodness in our players and in our community. Discover our people-centered approach and our commitment to fostering a positive impact on and off the field. We're thrilled to have you join our story!

PLEASE NOTE:

This is a temporary website as we build our new site. Our programming for 2025-2026 is continuing to expand, and we are excited to announce that we just migrated to a new registration platform. This new platform will provide an enhanced experience for families including an app with communications tools, it will streamline administrative tasks for Soccer Roots' staff and volunteers, and it will save money... the registration & credit card processing fees incurred by families will drop by almost half(!) compared to our previous registration provider's fees.

Programs

Pelada

Soccer Roots' philosophy is built with joyful play at its core, and Pelada (the Portuguese word for informal, friendly pick-up soccer) is how Soccer Roots began.

Pelada is a supervised after-school program where players learn to play creatively without training, coaching, or drilling. All kids are welcome, and for those who attend Shelburne Community School, a Soccer Roots staffer will group-walk kids from SCS to the Shelburne Field House.

Clinics

Children as young as Kindergarten are encouraged to join in on Soccer Roots' Saturday morning clinics. In addition to general clinics, specialty clinics such as for goalkeepers are available.

Futsal

Futsal is a soccer-like game played indoors on a smaller field (typically on a hard surface, but we play on artificial turf).

This winter we will offer three sessions of roughly six weeks each, and games will be held Friday evenings at the Shelburne Field House.

Club Soccer

This will be Soccer Roots' third year fielding club teams that will play other clubs from the surrounding areas.

We will have U8, U10, U12, and U14 teams for girls and for boys.

Trainings are after school, and games are on the weekends.

"Soccer Roots has been instrumental in my boys' development, both as people and as players. The coaches are incredibly kind and positive, the atmosphere is supportive and inclusive, and the sense of community is truly inspiring."
